Common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Valued as a food species in Europe, common carp was intentionally introduced in North America in the 19th century, where it became widely established. However, common carp no longer is popular as a food fish in North America. Further, it is reviled for its habit of roiling the substrate in its foraging, reducing water clarity.
